Calendar Project
For the month of September being our first month for our calender project we were required to start off by using the basic rules of the calender project which was to use a calender template and choose a theme for our calender I chose to use images of my friends and use different backgrounds to make it look like we belonged in the image. We were also required to put important dates like birthdays or holidays and the moon phases in the month of September, lastly we were required to put three random facts on the month of September and every other month of the calender. For my image behind the calender grid I chose to put a pile of leaves because September is a fall month and leaves remind me of fall. I chose an image of me and my friend Sophia apple picking from my camera roll on my phone, and used an image of the woods in the fall and placed the image I cut out using the magnetic lasso tool to place us on the background of the background to make it look like I was taking an apple off of the tree. I then used the brightness tool to make the image of me and my friend brighter to make it look more realistic because the background I chose was brighter than my original image of me and my friend.
For the month of October we were required to feature at least one image that employs the ‘Clone Stamp & color replacement tool in a collage. I chose another image of me and my friend Victoria from a football game and and image of another wooded area. For my image behind the calender grid I chose pumpkins because Halloween is in October. I was required to put all the important dates and holidays in October and the moon phases of October. My facts for the month of October are located in the bottom right hand corner of the calender grid. To meet the requirements for the month of October I placed the image of me and my friend using the magnetic lasso tool. I used the Clone Stamp by making a smaller version of us rather than the original image of us which was way bigger. Lastly I used the color replacement tool to make the original image of us black and white and placing us on the image of the woods.
For the month of November we were required to again feature at least one image that employs the ‘Clone Stamp & color replacement tool in a collage plus a line drawing behind the calendar grid. I chose another image of me and my friends from throwback Thursday from spirit week this year and chose and an image of diner in the background. For my image behind the calender grid to meet the requirement of a line drawing behind the calender grid I used Photoshop starting off with a blank template and using the pencil tool to draw using different shades of pinks from light to dark pinks and by making the pencil tool bigger I created lines across the pink ombre drawing I created. I was required to put all the important dates and holidays in November and the moon phases of November. My facts for the month of November are located in the top left hand corner of the calender grid. To meet the requirements for the month of November by using the ‘Clone Stamp & color replacement tool in a collage. By using the magnetic lasso tool I cut out the image of me and my friends and made a lighter version of the original image using the clone stamp. Using the color replacement tool I created a lighter shade of blue for the color of the sky rather than the original image which had a darker blue sky. Lastly I placed the image of me and my friends in front of the image of the diner to make it look like we belonged in the image.
For the month of December we were required to include at least 50% of our own artwork and ‘type on a path’ Illustrator feature in the image. For this month I chose an image of me and my friend Sophia during Christmas vacation from when we went ice skating outside in Providence at the Alex and Ani Center and took a picture on the steps outside, I then chose an image of New York City during Christmas time. For my image behind the calender grid I chose an image of a tree outside with snow on it because in December it snows and normally people would buy Christmas trees during the time of Christmas. I was required to put all the important dates and holidays in December and the moon phases of December. My facts for the month of December are located in the top left hand corner of the calender grid. To meet the requirements for the month of December by including 50% of my artwork and the 'type on a path' Illustrator feature by using Photoshop and the pencil tool feature to draw stars in the sky. I used the 'type on a path' tool by placing "Happy Holidays" along the side of the ornaments behind us in the image. Lastly I placed the image of me and my friend on the step in front of the ornaments to make it look more realistic I had to darken the image of me and my friend.
For the month of January we were again required to include at least 50% of our own artwork and ‘type on a path’ Illustrator feature in the image. For this month I chose an image of me and my friend Sophia during the summer at a party, January being the coldest month makes me miss summer so I decided to chose a summer picture of me and my friend, I then chose an image of a dock near the water with a pretty sunset. For my image behind the calender grid I chose an image of snowflakes because it is cold in January and normally it tends to snow. I was required to put all the important dates and holidays in January and the moon phases of January. My facts for the month of January are located in the bottom right hand corner. To meet the requirements for the month of January by including 50% of my artwork and the 'type on a path' Illustrator feature by using Photoshop, I again drew stars in the sky by using the pencil tool. Using the 'type on a path tool I placed "Happy New Year" in the sky because New Years is in January. Lastly I placed the image of me and my friend that I cut out and placed us on the image of the dock in front of the water to make it look like we were standing on the dock which required me to put the brightness up on the original image of us to make it look more realistic.
For the month of February we were required to use two new Photoshop tools of our choosing that we could learn from the internet. For this month I chose another image of me and my friend Sophia during the summer at a party. I then chose an image of a glittery photo booth background. For my image behind the calender grid I chose an image of a rose with hearts because Valentine's Day is in February. I was required to put all the important dates and holidays in February and the moon phases of February. My facts for the month of February are located in the top left hand corner. To meet the requirements for the month of February by using two different tools from Photoshop, I first cut the image of me and my friend out by using the magnetic lasso tool I then used the shape tool on Photoshop and created my own heart. I also used the elliptical marquee tool to make it look like the flash hit my friend eyes and made it look like it hit her smile too as if we were in an actual photo booth. Lastly I placed the image of me and my friend on the glittery background and placed the heart around the two of us for Valentine's Day.
For the month of March we were again required to use two new Photoshop tools of our choosing that we could learn from the internet. For this month I chose and image of me and my friends Sydney and Kate from St. Patrick's Day. I then chose an image of four leaf clovers for the background. I was required to put all the important dates and holidays in March and the moon phases of March. My facts for the month of March are located in the top left hand corner. To meet the requirements for the month of March by using two different tools from Photoshop, I first cut out the image of me and my friends using the magnetic lasso tool and then used the color replacement tool to make the image of us green because the color used during the time of St. Patrick's Day is green. I also used the elliptical marquee tool to make it look like my phone had a flash from the camera. Lastly I placed the image of me and my friends on the background of the four leaf clovers.
